Centre's annual retreat took place in Hohenwarte 10-13 December to summarize the scientific success of 2018 and discuss future directions.
The purpose of the meeting was to share scientific results and ideas through presentations and discussions, and to build and nourish the scientific network. This year, we were joined by:
Victor Smetacek (AWI, Germany)
Selina Våge (University of Bergen, Norway)
Cornelia Jaspers (GEOMAR, Germany)
Friederike Prowe (GEOMAR, Germany)

Thanks to the great effort put in by all the attendees, the meeting was a great success and generated lots of new and exciting ideas for the future development of the Centre. As part of the program, we visited the grave of Villum Kann Rasmussen in Mandø, the founder of the Villum Foundation, and hence the Centre for Ocean Life. We reached Mandø on foot across the seabed along the old Ebbevej.
