The microscopic world of plankton is blind, but planktonic organisms perceive their prey, mates, and predators through fluid signals that these generate when they feed and swim. It is therefore advantageous to be able to move in a stealthy way in order to avoid being detected by predators and prey. The article describes how plankton have developed various stealth motility modes.
